On November 20 2008, The Royal Society of Medicine hosted its Inaugural Remembrance Ceremony, honouring the sacrifice made by doctors, medical personnel and others.

300 guests witnessed the Unveiling of a Remembrance Plaque, heard an Address by the Archbishop of York (pictured) and a special poem read by the Poet Laureate. Other readings were made by representatives of the RAF and Navy. A wreath was laid by the Surgeon General for the Defence Medical Services.
